Zero Touch & Carrier Automation Congress

20-23 March 2018, Madrid, ES

ETSI is pleased to endorse Layer123’s very first Zero Touch & Carrier Automation Congress in Madrid from 20-23 March 2018.

With an automated future ahead of us and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning revolutionising the telecoms networking operations, the event will bring a fresh focus in Madrid next year to keep you up-to-date. Driven by requirements for carriers to become more agile and responsive to their customers' needs, as well as commercial pressures to reduce operational costs and to address the increasing skills gap, Carrier Automation is a must-have for survival in today's fast-moving, dynamic and competitive business environment for telecoms services.

This is a highly relevant and very timely event for ETSI, considering the recent creation of the Zero touch network and Service Management Industry Specification Group (ZSM ISG) in December 2017. The ETSI ZSM ISG initially focuses on the 5G end-to-end network and service management such as network slicing management and will extend to the management for future network generations.

The goal is to have all operational processes and tasks - delivery, deployment, configuration, assurance, and optimization - executed automatically, ideally with 100% automation. The group’s goal is the definition of a new, future-proof, horizontal and vertical end-to-end operable framework enabling agile, efficient and qualitative management and automation of emerging and future networks and services. Horizontal end-to-end refers to cross-domain, cross-technology aspects. Vertical end-to-end refers to cross-layer aspects, from the resource-oriented up to the customer-oriented layers. The group will also facilitate the coordination and cooperation between relevant standardization bodies and open source projects.

ETSI’s Director General, Luis Jorge Romero, will give a keynote on Thursday, 22 March.
