ETSI and ITU are pleased to announce the joint workshop "Towards Setting Environmental Requirements for 5G", taking place on 23 November 2017, in ETSI, Sophia Antipolis, France. The one-day workshop will provide a platform for discussion among all relevant parties including policy makers, standardization bodies, vendors, operators and researchers on environmental matters related to 5G.

ETSI Summit on 5G Network Infrastructure

Our industry is buzzing with excitement about 5G. We have read the requirements, both high-level and more detailed. We have pored over the numerous white papers. Standardization plans have been carefully set and work is already progressing. But we have mainly focused on the radio technologies needed for 5G. What about the network behind the radio access system? How will the 5G network infrastructure help to meet the overall 5G system requirements, and is it even fit for purpose?

The ETSI summit on 5G Network Infrastructure will take place on 6 April 2017 in ETSI, Sophia Antipolis, France. REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.


ETSI IoT/M2M Workshop 2016 featuring the Smart World

ETSI's IoT / M2M workshop has become a must-attend for anyone involved in IoT standards, whether at IoT standards management / technology roadmap and planning, IoT standards development, or IoT standards users and followers. The Workshop is scheduled for 15-17 November 2016.

The workshop will be preceeded on 14 November, by a Developer's tutorial starting at 10am  and a session on policies "When Standards Support Policies: the case of IOT and the digitization of industry" starting at 14:30.

M2M Workshop 2013

The 4th ETSI M2M Workshop will examine major issues facing wide-scale M2M deployment. Machine to Machine communications is the foundation layer for our future world of smart devices, smart appliances, smart homes, smart buildings and smart cities. To unlock the potential offered by M2M, we must understand and address issues related to business models and incentives, technology choices, involvement of different industry sectors, security and data privacy. We must also understand the roles of major actors and their numerous use cases.

The workshop will take place on 6-7 November 2013 in the Congress Centre of Mandelieu, France. Products and solutions based on ETSI’s M2M standards will be showcased as of 5 November, starting at 2pm, and throughout the duration of the workshop.


Workshop on Environmental Impact Assessment and Energy Efficiency

A second ETSI Workshop on Environmental Impact Assessment and Energy Efficiency took place on 7-8 October 2013, in Athens, Greece, hosted by the Greek Research & Technology Network (GRNET) and supported by the ECONET project.

Protecting the environment is a global concern, and one which involves whole industries, as well as individuals. Determining how to reduce the environmental impact and reducing energy consumption will provide obvious environmental benefits, but it also makes good business sense.
